چکیده
Braun et al. discovered an error in the SAS code of their paper “Variability of Urinary Phthalate Metabolite and Bisphenol A Concentrations before and during Pregnancy” [Environ Health Perspect 120:739–745 (2012)]. The error resulted in the reported absolute concentrations of phthalate metabolites and BPA being approximately 50% higher. The authors mistakenly used the median value from the EARTH study men [specific gravity (SG) = 1.025] rather than women (SG = 1.015) in their SG calculations. Thus, the reported concentrations in Table 2 (columns 2 and 3), Table 4 (columns 2 and 3), and Figure 1, as well as in the Supplemental Material, were higher than if the median SG for this group of women had been used. The authors note that this error did not alter the statistical analyses or their interpretations or the conclusions of their paper. The authors regret the errors.

Variability of Urinary Phthalate Metabolite and Bisphenol A Concentrations before and during Pregnancy
BACKGROUND Gestational phthalate and bisphenol A (BPA) exposure may increase the risk of adverse maternal/child health outcomes, but there are few data on the variability of urinary biomarkers before and during pregnancy. OBJECTIVE We characterized the variability of urinary phthalate metabolite and BPA concentrations before and during pregnancy and the ability of a single spot urine sample t...
متن کاملVariability and Predictors of Urinary Bisphenol A Concentrations during Pregnancy
BACKGROUND Prenatal bisphenol A (BPA) exposure may be associated with developmental toxicity, but few studies have examined the variability and predictors of urinary BPA concentrations during pregnancy. OBJECTIVE Our goal was to estimate the variability and predictors of serial urinary BPA concentrations taken during pregnancy. METHODS We measured BPA concentrations during pregnancy and at ...
متن کاملUrinary Concentrations of Bisphenol A and Phthalate Metabolites Measured during Pregnancy and Risk of Preeclampsia
BACKGROUND Preeclampsia represents a major cause of maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. Although it is known that the placenta plays a central role in development of preeclampsia, investigation into the contribution of environmental toxicants to the risk of preeclampsia has been sparse. OBJECTIVES In the present study we examined the relationship between longitudinally measured urinar...
متن کاملWithin-person reproducibility of urinary bisphenol A and phthalate metabolites over a 1 to 3 year period among women in the Nurses’ Health Studies: a prospective cohort study
BACKGROUND Associations of bisphenol A and phthalates with chronic disease health outcomes are increasingly being investigated in epidemiologic studies. The majority of previous studies of within-person variability in urinary bisphenol A and phthalate metabolite concentrations have focused on reproducibility over short time periods. Long-term reproducibility data are needed to assess the potent...
متن کاملVariability and Predictors of Urinary Concentrations of Phthalate Metabolites during Early Childhood
The variability and predictors of urinary concentrations of phthalate metabolites in preschool-aged children have not been thoroughly examined. Additionally, the impact of temporal changes in the use and restriction of phthalates in children's products has not been assessed. Our objective was to identify demographic, behavioral, and temporal predictors of urinary phthalate metabolite concentrat...
